ABOUT
DEST is a design gallery founded and run by a group of Shanghai-born professionals with international experience in the design and art industries.
Our mission is to showcase a selection of collectible design and handcraft, unique pieces by designers from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and ages.
Keeping our clients’ direct interaction with the object as priority, we foster an inclusive vision of design, beyond categorizations and labels, with pieces blurring the line between design, visual art, and craft.
Spanning over 300 sqm, the gallery is located on the ground floor of a newly renovated historical building in the heart of Shanghai’s vibrant Jing'an District.

DEST是一家坐落于上海的设计画廊，由一群出生于上海并在设计和艺术行业具备国际经验的专业人士共同创建和经营。透过DEST的独特视角，我们旨在展示来自于不同文化背景和年龄的设计师创作的限量设计及手工艺创作。在顾客与作品之间进行交感连接是我们工作的核心。我们期待促进更具包容性的设计语境，在创造中延拓设计、视觉艺术和手工艺之间的边界、突破固有的分类与标签。
DEST设立于上海市静安区陕康里，是凝聚着上海近代历史发展的艺术文化与生活交融中心之地，在一栋全新改造兼百年历史文脉和现代设计的建筑一层，拥有超过300平米的艺术空间。
PHILOSOPHY
Our mission is to bring a broad audience closer to design by showing its potentiality to ease, shape and enrich everyday life. Through presenting a wide variety of artworks by designers, creativists, and artists in a neutral, welcoming space, we invite the public to approach us without the preconceptions and apprehensions some might have when entering a gallery, encouraging them to appreciate design as an optional means to understand and express one’s own needs, identity, and personality. We hope to offer both visitors and clients an opportunity to interact with design pieces and their makers, to nurture their taste and interests, while inspiring them to build personal design collections.

我们希望展示设计在日常生活中其内在的舒适、塑造力和丰富潜力，提供观众 进一步深入设计的可能。通过营造自然惬意的共生空间，展示设计师、创作者 和艺术家们多样性的艺术作品，邀请公众与我们一起并打破对画廊的距离感和 固有印象，鼓励他们把设计作为一种用来理解和表达自己需求、身份和个人的 方式，激发建立起个人的设计收藏。
WHAT WE DO
DEST explores a new way of conceiving and managing a design art gallery by adopting a model based on interdisciplinarity and inclusiveness. We will be running a program of thematic, concept-based exhibitions, where objects from different design fields will be displayed within a curatorial frame and set-ups involving other disciplines. DEST aims to build and nurture collaborations with designers from across the globe by reaching out to them and welcoming submissions, while also offering them financial resources for creating new works. Embracing diversity and a multiplicity of visions, we hope to actively contribute to the discourse on contemporary design in China by building fresh, visionary narratives in this field.
在跨学科模式的基础上以其独特的包容性，探索出对于构思和管理设计艺术画 廊的新方向。我们将把来自不同设计领域的作品并置在一个策展框架下，同时 架构起不同概念之间相互渗透或对话的可能，从而展开一系列以主题性的、基 于概念的展览项目。Gallery 致力于与全球不同文化背景的创作者进行合作， 不断吸收新的作品。我们欢迎共享这一理念的艺术家加入，并在互相激发中为 艺术家提供更好的资源与平台。我们期盼在当代设计领域建立独特而具有前瞻 性的叙事，推动中国当代设计的语境拓展。
