王文生油画风景创作展现出一种十分独特而可贵的视觉效果,那是一种既中国又西方,既传统又现代的独一无二的审美经验,因此,我们将其称为"中国式油画",这里所谓的"中国"与"传统"是指其作品深深植根于中国的独有文化艺术的土壤中。因而,其艺术精神和创作理念是在对传统进行充分反思后所产生的当代意识。而"西方"和"现代"则是指王文生娴熟地创作性地把握住油画这一"泊来品"技术手段并将其由"泊来"之"艺"提升至"本土"之"道",使之与中国式文人意识和文人山水意识相交融,从而很好地架构了传统水墨山水如何在当代延续的框架。这既是对这一理论的实践性操作,又对其进行了理性延伸。
