展览介绍

前言

“编辑”是知识生产过程中的关键环节,常常被视为一种专门的职业和技能。然而,反常的情况并非没有。1935年,茅盾将从全国征集来、关于5月21日的476篇、80余万字图文几乎不加更改的“暴力”装订在一起,出版了《中国的一日》一书,展示了中国一日之多种面貌,建构起一个作为想像共同体的中国。与不编辑的“编辑”相比,另一极端则是不所不在的“编辑”。80年代以来的后现代主义艺术利用电脑和互联网,对历史与现实中的既存资源进行打散与重组,并进行重新编辑,赋予其以全新的叙事结构,从而进行艺术创造。

媒介技术逻辑与前卫艺术观念在“编辑”中,获得统一,信息时代的来临更让每一个人都成为编辑艺术家。在移动终端和移动互联网条件下,个人越来越多的直接进行信息的采集、加工、发布和追踪,从被动的信息接受者转变为信息生产者。每个人的参与和信息身份的变迁,让社会结构变成更加扁平的无限之网,让人们对同一问题进行不同角度的呈现和评论,同时也令“艺术”的生产变成个人化的临时创意行为,使“艺术”的内涵变为一个互动和无止无休的过程。

尤其在我们所居住的都市之中,信息网络越来越比交通网络更为复杂和密集,成为现代生活无法脱离的重要基础。但是,通信和媒体技术的应用都有其惯例和规则,无论是在印刷时代还是数码时代,皆是如此,这些惯例和规则我们已经习以为常。然而,通过“编辑”,对技术应用规则和惯例进行颠覆:打破叙事结构、解构叙事主体、切换叙事视角、扰乱试听同步,或者有意识中断信号……种种打破习以为常并重建的语言和结构都可以为艺术带来全新的思考。

Foreword

"Editing" is a key part of the knowledge production process and is often seen as a specialized profession and skill. However, there are exceptions. In 1935, Mao Dun collected about 476 articles considering the day May, 21st with more than 800,000 words with pictures from the whole country, "roughly" bound them together without any further polishing, and published the book "A Day in China", showing a variety of facets of the country, constructing a China as an imaginary community. Opposite to this non-doing "editing", the other end of the spectrum is the ubiquitous "editing". Post-modern art since the 1980s uses computers and the Internet to break up and reorganize the existing resources in history and reality, and to re-edit them, giving them a new narrative structure to create art.

The logic in media technology and the avant-garde art concept are unified in "editing", and the advent of the information age makes everyone an editorial artist. Under the conditions provided by mobile terminals and mobile internet, more and more individuals are able to directly collect, process, publish and track information, turning from passive information receivers to information producers. The participation of each person and the change of information identity make the social structure become a flatter and more unlimited network, allowing people to present and comment on the same issue from different angles, and at the same time, production of "art" thus becomes a personalized temporary idea while the meaning of "art" becomes an interactive and endless process.

Especially in the cities where we live, information networks are more and more complex and denser than transportation networks, becoming a crucial foundation for modern life. The application of communication and media technology has its own rules and practices, no matter it is in the printing era or the digital age, and we have been accustomed to them. However, through "editing", these technical application rules and practices are subverted。 Breaking the narrative structure, deconstructing the narrative subject, switching the narrative perspective, disturbing the audio-visual synchronization, or consciously interrupting the signal...all these rule-breaking, reconstructed languages and structures will bring new ideas to art.
