——序“纪念四川省对外文化交流中心成立35周年——

天涯共此时:中外艺术家美术作品跨年联展”

“纪念四川省对外文化交流中心成立35周年——天涯共此时:中外艺术家美术作品跨年联展”,是一次跨国界、跨地域、跨种族、跨性别、跨年龄的艺术展览。共有82位中外艺术家参加了本次展览。他们来自世界五大洲,包括中国、俄罗斯、乌克兰、英国、法国、瑞士、比利时、美国、墨西哥、澳大利亚、日本、韩国、以色列、印度、泰国、缅甸、马来西亚、马拉维、南非的艺术家。其中,还包括旅居海外或留学归国的中国艺术家。如此参展阵容,本身便形成了一种中外文化交流的格局,形象地展示出四川省对外文化交流中心的事业内涵以及它在过去35年中持之以恒的作为与贡献。

四川省对外文化交流中心承担着两个范围、两个层面的对外文化交流任务:一个是对省外文化交流,一个是对国外文化交流。所以,我们既邀请了国外艺术家参展,也邀请了省外艺术家参展。他们共同的特点是与四川都有着深厚的情感渊源。此次,他们又将与我省艺术家聚集一堂,以艺术作品为媒,在此见证友谊,展开对话和交流,并用这种形式共同庆祝四川省对外文化交流中心成立35周年。

三个来向的艺术家之所以能够同登一台,共襄盛举,首先应归功于四川省对外文化交流中心在过去无数个日子里所付出的诚恳与心血。35年来,“中心”一代又一代同仁们不忘初心,牢记使命,以薪火相传的行动节奏,在省内外与国内外文化界人士之间穿针引线,牵线搭桥,不断开拓渠道,协助省内文化界人士广交朋友,建立友谊,为繁荣我省对外文化交流事业、推动我省对外开放步伐,积累了大量人脉资源。今天的这个展览就是一次见证,虽然艺术作品在此充当了媒介,但是真正的交流是在人与人之间进行的。正是由于“中心”的感召与纽带作用,省内与省外、国内与国外、有过旅居和留学海外经历的人们和一直生活与成长于本省之内的人们,才能在同一个时刻汇聚到这同一个空间里来,共同参与跨省和跨国文化交流,分享这种交流的氛围,感受其意义和价值。事实上,在这个特殊的日子里,“中心”的工作仍然在继续。或者说,本次活动不过是“中心”日常工作的一次富有形式感的曝光。

这种形式感是艺术赋予的,就本次活动而言,又具体落实到美术作品。它采取视觉艺术交流的方式,将国内外与省内外艺术家的创作成果荟萃到同一个时空,诱发出心灵的碰撞和情感、技艺与思想的交流。可以想象的是,这种交流绝不会进行到艺术家之间就会停止,它必将延伸到所有到场的人们之间,包括艺术家与观众、观众与观众;也必将延伸到艺术作品内部的世界与我们所处的现实世界之间。在这种交流中,所有交流的终端都将改变自己的身份,共同为构筑一个“异托邦”(hétérotopies)而重新确立自己的位置。这是人类理想精神的异托邦,置身其中,我们深感自己是“人类命运共同体”的一员!是艺术的作用唤醒了我们这样的意识,让我们升华到了这样一个境界。我们由衷地感到,人类只有一个地球,各国之间和各种文化之间求同存异、彼此关切、共同发展,才是人类真正的福祉所在。在这样一个境界中,我们也深感,自己所拥有的异托邦并不限于这个具体的活动现场,此时此刻,它将无限地扩展其精神空间,向居住在这个星球上的各个地方,各个时区的人们发出邀请,让他们听到这里正在发生的对话、交流与碰撞,分享到文化与文化、文明与文明之间在敞开心扉时迸发出来的包容力、创造力和引人入胜的乐趣。这就是我们心中所向往的那种“天涯共此时”的状态,因为它不仅指向人类命运的现实,还指向人类应该有的理想。

本次展览展出的作品包括绘画、雕塑、陶艺和摄影。绘画、雕塑、陶艺是古老的艺术形式,摄影则是现代科技的伴随物。我们想通过这种展览形式引发艺术层面的对话,并希望这种对话不仅发生在共时性文化之间,也发生在艺术史——尤其是传统与现代之间。作为一个艺术作品展览,艺术的自律性价值必须得到充分尊重。而且我们相信,艺术的其他功能都必须以艺术自身的存在价值为前提,只有艺术自身有意义,艺术所关联的别的事情才会有意义。为此,我们邀请了若干位成就卓著的著名艺术家参展,其中有中国艺术家,也有外国艺术家,他们有的在其故国享有盛誉,有的已经蜚声国际艺坛。他们带来的作品保证了本次展览有可仰望的艺术高度。可是,由于艺术同时是一个探索未知的过程,人类经验未有穷期,艺术也未有穷期,所以,在参展结构上,我们为不确定性留下了位置,并将其视为本次展览和年轻艺术家共同的机会。如果说前者为本次展览所承载的文化交流与对话预留了更多的空间,那么后者就将为鼓励青年艺术家的创新精神助一臂之力。我们的原则是不问这些青年艺术家的出处,不管他是省内的省外的、国内的国外的,甚至不问他们是否有艺术“专业”的学历背景。只要他们的作品是有想象力、言之有物和不落俗套的,我们就给予最大限度的容纳。这就是我们在本次展览上何以见到如此多的不拘一格的作品的原因所在。这些作品的可能性也许是不能确定的,其中有的在技术和表现手法上是稚嫩的甚至是粗糙的,但它们绝对真诚无虞,自由奔放,令人耳目一新。

事实上,正如文化交流必须以文化平等观为前提,文化交流的渠道也应该被认为是多向度的,其中既有专业层面的文化交流,又必须在道义上为多元公共文化留下表达与交流的空间。人类既然是一个命运共同体,我们就不能自恃所谓专业的优越性来制造等级,排斥人民大众的文化需求和他们释放其审美创造力的愿望。法国后马克思主义者朗西埃(Jacques Rancière)提出了一种美学政治观,其要义在于“歧感”(dissensus),即,既提倡人们在艺术接受上的平等,也提倡人们在艺术创作上的平等。为此,他设想了一种“艺术的美学体制”,用于打破传统上精英与平民、专业与非专业之间不平等的“可感性分配”(partage du sensible)体系,让普通民众能够在艺术殿堂上发出他们的声音。尽管这个主张看上去过于理想,但却并不能因此成为我们不值得去追求的理由。如果我们承认民间公共文化交流是对外文化交流更经常的任务,那么,我们就必须为表达这种交流的价值负起责任。可幸的是,四川省对外文化交流中心在过去担负起了这样的责任,今天又用如此多元化的参展形式,表明了其继续担当责任的决心。事实上,这也同样是为艺术负责,因为在当代艺术的语境下,破除艺术与生活、精英与非精英的界限,已经是一个不可回避的价值。

今年是中华人民共和国成立70年周年的大庆之年。四川省对外文化交流中心在共和国的既往历程中刚好走过一半。这一半是伴随着改革开放岁月走过来的,所以,它既是共和国对外开放的见证者,也是其忠实的参与者。本次纪念展既是为了纪念过去的开放,也是为了走向未来的开放。为此,它被放到了一个跨越年轮的时段。在新年的钟声就要敲响的前夕,本次展览将带着我们的自信和喜悦,把四川省对外文化交流中心的事业推向一个崭新的未来。

Share a moment around the world

——Preface for"Commemoration of the 35th Anniversary of the Establishment of Sichuan Foreign Cultural Exchange Center - PUKET: Cross Year Joint Exhibition of Chinese and Foreign Artists' Art Works"

"Commemoration of the 35th Anniversary of the Establishment of Sichuan Foreign Cultural Exchange Center - PUKET: Cross Year Joint Exhibition of Chinese and Foreign Artists' Art Works",which is a cross-border, cross-regional, cross-racial, cross-gender, and cross-age art exhibition.A total of 80 Chinese and foreign artists participated in the exhibition. They are artists from five continents including China, Russia, Ukraine, Britain, France, Switzerland, Belgium, USA, Mexico, Australia, Japan, Korea, Israel, India, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Malawi, South Africa.Among them, also include Chinese artists who live abroad or return to study abroad. In this way, the exhibition lineup has formed a pattern of cultural exchanges between china and foreign countries, showing vividly the career connotation of sichuan foreign cultural exchange center and its persistent achievements and contributions in the past 35 years.

Sichuan Foreign Cultural Exchange Center is responsible for two levels of foreign cultural exchange,one is cultural exchange outside Sichuan, the other is cultural exchange abroad. Therefore, we invited foreign artists to participate in the exhibition as well as artists from other provinces. Their common characteristic is that they have deep emotional origin with Sichuan. This time, they will gather with artists in Sichuan province to use works of art as a medium,witness the friendship, carry out dialogue and exchange, and jointly celebrate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of Sichuan foreign cultural exchange center in this form.

The reason why the three artists came to the same stage together and contributed to the prosperity is firstly due to the sincerity and hard work of the Sichuan Foreign Cultural Exchange Center in the past countless days. Over the past 35 years, generations of colleagues at the "center" have not forgotten their original intentions, kept their mission in mind, and used the rhythm of action to pass on fire. They have pinned leads and matchmaking between the people inside and outside the province and the cultural circles at home and abroad. People make friends and build friendships, in order to prosper the province's foreign cultural exchanges and promote the province's opening to the outside world, it has accumulated a lot of network resources .Today's exhibition is a testimony. Although art works serve as a medium here, the real communication is between people. It is precisely because of the center's appeal and ties, that people within and outside the province, domestic and foreign, people who have lived and studied abroad, and people who have been living and growing in the province can gather at the same moment Come in the same space, participate in cross-provincial and transnational cultural exchanges, share the atmosphere of such exchanges, and feel their significance and value. In fact, on this particular day, the work of the Center continued. In other words, this activity is just a formal exposure of the daily work of the center.

This sense of form is given by art. As far as this activity is concerned, it is also specifically implemented in art works. It adopts the way of visual art exchange, which gathers the creative achievements of artists at home and abroad and Inside and outside the province into the same time and space, and induces the collision of soul and the exchange of emotion, skill and thought. It can be imagined that this kind of communication will never stop between artists, it will extend to all the people present, including artists and audiences, audiences and audiences; it will also extend to the inner world of art works and the real world we live in. In this kind of communication, all the terminals of communication will change their identities and reestablish their positions in order to build a " heterotopia ". This is a heterotopia of human ideal spirit, in which we feel that we are a member of the community of human destiny! It is the function of art that wakes up our consciousness and sublimates us to such a state. We sincerely feel that the real well-being of human beings lies in the fact that there is only one earth for human beings, and that seeking common ground while reserving differences, caring for each other and developing together among countries and cultures. In such a realm, we also feel deeply that our own heterotopia is not limited to this specific activity site. At this moment, it will expand its spiritual space infinitely, send invitations to people living in various places and time zones on the planet, so that they can hear the dialogue, exchange and collision that are taking place here, and share the tolerance, creativity and fascinating fun that burst out when culture and culture, civilization and civilization open their hearts.This is the kind of " all in the world at this time" that we yearn for in our hearts, because it not only points to the reality of human destiny, but also points to the ideals that human beings should have.

Works of the exhibition includes paintings, sculptures, ceramics and photography.The first three are ancient art forms, while photography is a companion of modern technology.Through this form of exhibition, we want to initiate a dialogue at the artistic level, and hope the dialogue will take place not only in synchronic cultures, but also in the history of art -- especially between tradition and modernity.As an art exhibition, the value of art self-discipline must be fully respected.Moreover, we believe that other functions of art must be based on the existence value of art itself,and only when art itself has meaning can the other things that art is associated with have meaning.To this end,we have invited several famous artists with outstanding achievements to participate in the exhibition, including artists at home and abroad, some of whom enjoy high reputation in their home countries, and some who are already well-known in the international art world.Their works ensure that the exhibition has a high artistic level to look up to.However, since art is a process of exploring the unknown, there is no end to human experience, and there is no end to art. Therefore, in the structure of the exhibition, we left a place for uncertainty and regard it as a common opportunity for this exhibition and young artists.If the former reserves more space for the cultural exchange and dialogue carried by this exhibition, the latter will help to encourage the innovative spirit of young artists.Our principle is not to ask where these young artists come from, whether they are from inside or outside the province, at home or abroad, or even whether they have the academic background of art "major".As long as their works are imaginative, meaningful and unconventional, we will give them maximum tolerance.That is why we see so many eclectic works in this exhibition.The possibilities of these works may be uncertain, some of which are immature or even rough in technique and expression, but they are absolutely sincere, unrestrained and refreshing.

In fact, just as cultural exchange must be based on the concept of cultural equality, the ways of cultural exchange should also be considered as multi-dimensional, including both professional level cultural exchange, as well as moral space for expression and communication of multiple public cultures. Since human beings are existing as a community of common destiny, we can't rely on the so-called professional superiority to create hierarchy, and exclude the cultural needs of the people and their desire to release their aesthetic creativity. Jacques Rancière, the French Post-Marxist, put forward a kind of aesthetic political view, the essence of which is the sense of difference ( Dissensus ), which aims to promote the equality of people's artistic acceptance as well as their artistic creation. For this purpose, he conceived an Aesthetic System of Art, which could be used to break the traditional unequal Sensible Share ( partage du sensible ) system between the elite and the common people, and between the professional and the non-professional, so that the ordinary people can let their own voices heard in the art palace. Although this idea may seem too ideal, it cannot be the excuse that we assert it is not worth pursuing. If we admit that the folk public cultural exchange is a more frequent task of foreign cultural exchange, then we must take responsibility for expressing the value of such exchange. Fortunately, Sichuan Foreign Cultural Exchange Center has shouldered such responsibility in the past, and now with such a diverse form of participation, it shows its determination to continue to take this responsibility. As a matter of fact, it is also responsible for art, because in the context of contemporary art, breaking the boundaries between art and life, elite and non elite has become an inevitable value.

It's the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China this year. Sichuan Foreign Cultural Exchange Center has just gone through half of the history of the country. The history of it came along with the reform and opening up, so it is not only a witness of the Republic's opening up, but also a faithful participant. This memorial exhibition is held to commemorate the opening in the past, as well as to move towards the opening in the future. For this reason, it has been put into a period of time that spans the growth ring. On the eve of the new year, this exhibition will push Sichuan Foreign Cultural Exchange Center into a brand new future with our confidence and joy.
